New for 2017 - we will be hosting a leg of the International Pro Wake board tour, and will be transforming the Lakeside into a stunning Water Festival Zone to include a Beach Bar central to the viewing area. There will be plenty of opportunities to get involved on the water with Have a go Wake Board sessions, paddle boarding, kayaking and water zorbing.
Pro Wakeboard Tour
The Pro Wakeboard Tour will be visiting Bolesworth International Water Festival on Saturday 17th & 18th June. Some of the best wakeboarders in the World will be attending to battle in a head 2 head competition on a bespoke course. The stunning lake that lies in front of Bolesworth Castle will be transformed into a World Class Wakeboard Park.
A Sesitec System 2.0 cable tow will pull the wakeboarders through the water and they will use floating jumps, ramps and obstacles to perform tricks. The lake will resemble a huge floating skateboard park and the athletes will be boasting over 20 feet high and performing tricks like double flips, 900 degree spins and some crazy named moves like Moby Dicks, Tantrums, Tootsie Rolls and many more.
The best wakeboarding athletes from the British Isles plus a handful of International riders will compete at Bolesworth. There will be money on the line, plus the honor of being crowned the overall Champion at the end of the tour.
The competition format is head to head battles, which really push the riders to lay down their best possible run. It also involves the crowd perfectly as you are judging one rider against the next! An X-Factor style judging system will keep the crowd fully in the loop with who is progressing to the next round.
The athletes competing will include a number of young guns who are currently taking the sport by storm! The likes of Jack and Joey Battleday, Ryan and Liam Peacock, Matty Muncey, Blair Fraser and Alfie Constable will all be on site showcasing their skills. These young guys destroyed the field of riders on the 2016 tour and impressed the most.
Learn to Wakeboard
You can learn to wakeboard at the Bolesworth International Water Festival this year! When the competition is not happening we will be running 'have a go sessions'. This will be in fairly limited supply, so make sure you head to the wake park and book your session. It is £20 per person and includes all the kit you need. You will also be able to get on the water via Stand Up Paddle Boarding and Water Zorbing.
Learning to wakeboard is one of the most fun and exhilarating things you can try. It is a multi generation sport and is a brilliant hobby that can be enjoyed by kids and parents all at the same time. Using a System 2.0 cable tow to learn to wakeboard is much easier than you might expect. The high pull of the cable naturally pulls you out of the water and into a riding position. It is always operated on a one to one basis with fully qualified British Waterski and Wakeboard coaches and instructors. Once you are up and riding, the progression is extremely fast, within 5 to 10 sessions you could be hitting the jumps and ramps. We can guarantee that wakeboarding will put a huge smile on your face!
There are plenty of wake parks all over the UK and around 5 new parks opening every year! These parks are enjoyed by all sorts of different people, from aged 6 to over 60's! It is amazing fun and we highly recommend you go and visit your local wake park and start enjoying this brilliant sport. Remember what we said, it is way easier than you might think!
