The team at Bolesworth will be celebrating the grooms behind the riders at this year’s Dodson & Horrell Bolesworth International Horse Show, by awarding a prize to each groom behind the winning rider in the International Arena. There are additional prizes for the best turned out horse, courtesy of Dodson & Horrell, in each class on Saturday, Ladies Day.
We know how important the whole team is when it comes to competition horses, and we want to celebrate the grooms and the vital part they play at this year’s show,” said Nina Barbour, director of Bolesworth. “We’re delighted to be awarding the groom of each winning horse in the International Arena with a bottle of champagne and Bolesworth gilet during the whole show, and Dodson & Horrell is supporting the extra prizes for the best turned out horses on Saturday.”
In addition to the above, Bolesworth is also keen to promote the safety of grooms, and as part of this is working with the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) to create a Safety Hub where grooms can find out all about current standards, learn CPR and lifesaving skills, and find out more about Naturally Occurring Prohibited Substances (NOPS) and how to avoid cross contamination in the feed room, which is something that is so important for competition horses. For everyone who visits the BETA Safety Hub, there’s also the opportunity to enter a competition to be in with a chance of winning a hamper worth over £600.
“As riders, we all owe a lot to our grooms,” said Nina. “And being able to celebrate them and support them like this is the least we can do.”
Bolesworth will also be working with the British Grooms Association (BGA) during the event, sharing and creating content with grooms at the event, to give the inside scoop on what goes in to getting a horse to this level and keeping them happy and healthy during a show.
